Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend in bold Naskhi script, struck in high relief on an irregular flan typical of Mamluk hammered coinage. The inscription, arranged in horizontal registers, bears the name and titles of the sultan al-Sa'id Baraka Qan. A marginal legend runs along the periphery of the coin, partially off-flan due to the irregular striking. The surfaces show characteristic pitting and flow lines consistent with hammered silver production of the period.
