| Obverse description | Central field bearing three horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic inscription arranged within an inner circle, with additional shorter inscription segments in the lower field. The legends proclaim the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and assert the unity of God. A plain inner border separates the central inscription area from the surrounding marginal legend, which runs continuously around the periphery. The flan is irregular and slightly broader on one side, characteristic of hand-struck Abbasid silver coinage of the late 2nd century AH. |
