| Reverse description | Central field displaying a four-line Kufic inscription within a plain inner circle, bearing the name of Caliph Harun al-Rashid and the profession of faith of the Prophet Muhammad. A concentric marginal legend band, separated from the central field by a beaded border, carries a Quranic verse (Surah 9:33) running continuously around the field. The outer border is defined by a further beaded ring, consistent with standard Abbasid dirham typology. All inscriptions are rendered in early angular Kufic script with no decorative or figural elements. The reverse exhibits the same irregular hammered flan as the obverse. |
