Obverse description Central field contains the Islamic profession of faith arranged in three horizontal lines within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a beaded border. The marginal legend in the outer field reads the mint and date formula, recording the striking at Bulghar in the year 336 AH. The overall design closely imitates Samanid dirham prototypes in its layout and epigraphic style. All inscriptions are executed in Kufic Arabic script. The flan is irregular and slightly cracked, typical of provincial hammered silver coinage of this period.
