Obverse description The obverse presents a purely epigraphic design typical of Umayyad coinage of al-Andalus, with no figurative elements. The central field contains a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner circle. A circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs within the outer border, separated from the central field by a double linear ring. The coin bears the mint name al-Andalus and the date of issue expressed in words within the central area. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-struck hammered production of the period.
