Obverse description Facing right, the bearded head of Herakles rendered in fine archaic-transitional style, the hero clad in the scalp of the Nemean lion whose jaws frame the crown of his head and whose pelt drapes behind. The musculature of the face, beard, and mane are rendered with careful engraving, characteristic of early Macedonian silver coinage. The flan is irregular and the relief moderately worn, yet the iconographic details remain legible in the field.
