Obverse description Radiate and draped bust of Emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in the provincial Egyptian style characteristic of Alexandrian bronze coinage. The imperial effigy occupies the central field, with the laureate or radiate head displaying relatively high relief typical of early Julio-Claudian provincial issues. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust, identifying the emperor by his titles. The flan is irregular and shows surface porosity consistent with hammered bronze coinage of the period.
