Obverse description Head of a female figure, most likely a nymph or goddess, facing three-quarters to the left, rendered in fine archaic-to-early classical style. The hair is elaborately dressed, swept back in flowing waves and bound with a crested Attic helmet adorned with a decorative crest, its ribbed cheekpiece visible above the brow. Loose curling locks fall along the neck and behind the ear, and a pendant earring is discernible at the lobe. The facial features are finely modelled with a serene, slightly downcast expression characteristic of South Italian Greek coinage of this period.
