Reverse description A kithara (lyre) depicted frontally in bold relief, its rectangular resonating body clearly articulated with a stepped base and crossbar at the top, between which the characteristic curved arms rise to support the yoke. Two voluted scroll ornaments are visible at the upper corners of the sound box, and a horizontal string-bar is rendered across the lower body. The device is set within a plain incuse square field, a hallmark of early Megarian coinage.
