Obverse description Eagle standing left upon a rocky outcrop, wings folded, grasping a serpent in its talons; the snake writhes beneath the bird in the lower field. The abbreviated ethnic inscription ΑΚΡ appears in the upper field to the right. The composition is rendered in a bold, high-relief archaic Sicilian style characteristic of late fifth-century BC Akragantine coinage.
