| Reverse description | The reverse displays a deeply incuse swastika pattern, produced by the incuse punch applied during striking, resulting in a sunken mirror image of the obverse design. The rectilinear incuse square is subdivided into quadrants by the arms of the swastika, creating a characteristic cruciform depression. The surface within the incuse is rough and granular, reflecting the primitive hammered technique of early archaic Greek coinage. No inscription or additional device is present. This incuse reverse type is diagnostic of some of the earliest struck coinage from the Greek world. |
