Obverse description Eagle standing left, wings spread, clutching a serpent in its talons; the serpent curves upward beneath the bird in high relief. The composition is rendered in the bold, naturalistic style characteristic of late fifth-century Sicilian coinage. The partial legend ΑΚΡΑ appears in Greek characters arcing across the upper field.
