Obverse description A long-stemmed cross pattée divides the field into four quarters, with stylized foliate or vegetal scrollwork filling the lower two quarters. The horizontal legend ARAGON is inscribed across the upper half of the field, flanking the cross shaft. The overall composition is characteristic of 11th-century Iberian hammered coinage, with a beaded or rope border encircling the design.
