Obverse description Within a central inner circle, a hand raised in profile grasping a dagger or sword, the blade pointing upward, rendered in a schematic Romanesque style typical of feudal Catalan coinage. Horizontal lines beneath the hand suggest stylized ground or a cuff. A Latin legend reading IMPVRIARUM (genitive form of Empuries) runs between two concentric circles surrounding the central device, beginning with a cross pattée.

The composition is enclosed within an inner circle, and a Latin legend identifying the issuing count runs in the outer field between two concentric circles, beginning with a cross pattée.
