Obverse description Central plain cross with splayed ends occupying the field, enclosed between two concentric beaded circles. The circumferential legend reads GIRVNDA, referring to the city of Gerona, capital of the county. The coin is crudely struck on an irregular flan, typical of Carolingian-influenced hammered coinage of the Iberian counties in the early medieval period.

Reverse description A stylized fruit tree or plant motif rising from the base of the field, surmounted by or associated with a cross, rendered in a schematic, early medieval style consistent with Catalan county coinage of the tenth and eleventh centuries. The flan is irregular and the strike shallow, with portions of the design weakly impressed due to the hammered production technique. The field is otherwise plain.
