Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Sancho IV in high relief, rendered in the crude but expressive hammered style typical of late 13th-century Castilian billon coinage. The king wears a prominent crown with fleurons, and the facial features — including a single pelleted eye, stylized beard, and flowing hair — are characteristic of the cornado type. Small pellets and rudimentary heraldic devices flank the bust in the field. The circumferential legend reads SANCII REX, distributed around the periphery of the flan.
