Reverse description A stylized Gothic castle with three towers occupies the central field, representing the arms of Castile. The central tower is taller and flanked by two lesser towers, all rendered with crenellations and an arched gateway visible at the base. A lion passant is depicted below the castle, referencing the arms of León, in accordance with the combined heraldic tradition of the Crown of Castile and León. The surrounding circular Latin legend names the issuing kingdom. The design is executed in a bold, if somewhat coarse, hammered relief characteristic of fourteenth-century Castilian billon coinage.
