Obverse description Central field dominated by a plain cross pattée, its arms extending nearly to the beaded inner border. Small symbolic devices, likely stars or annulets, are distributed within the four quadrants formed by the cross arms. A circular Latin legend partially reading LEGIONENS runs along the periphery, enclosed between the beaded border and the cross. The die work is typical of Leonese hammered coinage of the mid-twelfth century, with an irregular flan and somewhat uneven strike.
