Obverse lettering ضرب / السلطان الأعظم / طغاي تيمور خلد ملكه / بغداد — الهامش: سنة / أحد / وأر / بعين / وسبع / مئة
Reverse description The reverse field presents the Shahada (Islamic declaration of faith) in multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Naskh script: 'lā ilāh illā Allāh / Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh', centrally positioned within a plain circular border. In the four lateral margins or sides of the inscription panel, the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs are inscribed: Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, and ʿAlī, following the standard Ilkhanid reverse formula. The overall composition is aniconic, strictly epigraphic, and conforms closely to established Ilkhanid dinar typology. The surfaces show typical die wear and flan irregularities consonant with hand-struck production.
