| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription within a hexagonal or polygonal frame formed by double-line borders, a characteristic feature of late Ilkhanid coinage. The field legend reads the mint formula and royal titulature of Sultan Taghay Timur, with the mint name Baghdad appearing in the lower register. A circular marginal legend encircles the central panel, carrying the regnal year in Arabic script. The hammered flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with mid-14th-century Islamic gold coinage, with the raised legends displaying bold, angular Naskh-style calligraphy. |

| Reverse description | The reverse field presents the Shahada (Islamic declaration of faith) in multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Naskh script: 'lā ilāh illā Allāh / Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh', centrally positioned within a plain circular border. In the four lateral margins or sides of the inscription panel, the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs are inscribed: Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, and ʿAlī, following the standard Ilkhanid reverse formula. The overall composition is aniconic, strictly epigraphic, and conforms closely to established Ilkhanid dinar typology. The surfaces show typical die wear and flan irregularities consonant with hand-struck production. |
