Sultan Husayn I ruled the Jalayirid Sultanate during a period of mounting pressure from rival powers, particularly the emerging Timurid threat from the east. The Bakuya mint — present-day Baku — operated as one of several provincial Jalayirid striking sites, its output reflecting the sultanate's tenuous grip on Azerbaijan during these years. Husayn I was eventually deposed by his brother Ahmad in 1382, making this a short emission window.
