Obverse description Multi-line medieval Cyrillic inscription filling the field, reading the royal title and name of Stefan Dušan as Emperor (Tsar) of the Serbs and Greeks. The lettering is arranged in four to five horizontal lines across the coin surface in an angular, Gothic-influenced Cyrillic hand typical of 14th-century Serbian coinage. A small cross appears at the top of the inscription. The flan is irregular and the legend occupies nearly the entire obverse field with no pictorial devices.
