| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Shapur II in high relief, wearing an elaborate mural crown surmounted by a distinctive korymbos (hair globe) enclosed within a crescent, adorned with pearl diadem and earrings. The king is depicted with a beaded necklace and richly ornamented robes, rendered in the characteristic plastic Sasanian style. Inscriptional Pahlavi legend partially visible in the right field, reading 'God worshiper the great Shapur king of kings of Iran.' The flan is irregular with a prominent beaded border framing the design. |
