Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Shapur I wearing the distinctive Sasanian royal korymbos crown, adorned with a large globular hair bundle surmounted by a crenellated diadem and pearl-bordered rim. The king's beard is rendered in finely beaded tiers and his neck bears a pearl necklace, reflecting the elaborate court regalia of the early Sasanian period. A Inscriptional Pahlavi legend encircles the effigy within a beaded border, reading the royal titulature of Shapur I. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the characteristic Sasanian style, with strong facial features and meticulous attention to the royal headdress.
