Obverse description Full standing figure of King Samudragupta facing left, depicted in royal attire with elaborate jewelry including earrings and necklace, his hair arranged in a high chignon. The king holds a tall standard or lance in his right hand, with his left arm at his side. A Brahmi legend is inscribed in the field to the right of the figure. The style is characteristic of early Gupta imperial coinage, with fluid, high-relief workmanship on an irregular flan.
