| Reverse description | The reverse presents a multi-line central Kufic legend arranged in horizontal registers within a beaded inner circle, bearing the name and titles of the ruling amir al-Mansur b. Nuh alongside a Quranic verse (Al-Tawba 9:33). A marginal circular legend in Kufic script runs along the outer border, separated by a beaded ring, continuing the Quranic citation. The overall die work is consistent with Samanid mint practice, featuring tightly spaced epigraphic lines with no decorative or figural elements, and the flan shows typical irregularity associated with hand-hammered coinage of the period. |

Mansur I's reign over the Samanid amirate coincided with accelerating pressure from the Buyid confederation to the west and early Ghaznavid ambitions to the south — the dynasty was holding, but only just. Samanid gold dinars of this period were struck at multiple mints across Khurasan and Transoxiana, and the mint city is the single most consequential variable for collectors of this type. Without a legible mint name, the coin's provenance within the series remains open.
