Obverse description Aniconic field entirely occupied by multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script, presenting the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and formulaic religious legends acknowledging the unity of God. The central inscription is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a continuous marginal legend in Arabic script running along the outer border. The hammered flan exhibits a characteristically irregular edge, and the bold, angular Kufic lettering is raised in high relief against a flat gold field.
