Obverse description Right-facing bust of Hormazd IV rendered in the Sasanian court style, wearing an elaborate mural crown surmounted by a frontal crescent and korymbos set upon a second crescent, with pendant ribbons and crescent ornaments at the shoulders. Stars flank the crown on either side, and additional stars appear within the crescents of the outer margin. A royal legend in Middle Persian (Pahlavi) script encircles the effigy. The portrait is executed in the flat, stylised convention characteristic of late Sasanian coinage, with strong linear definition of regal regalia.
