Reverse description The goddess Lakshmi is depicted seated in a commanding posture atop a roaring lion shown with an upright, high-postured neck, the pair presented in a frontal orientation. The goddess holds a long-stemmed lotus flower in her right hand, raised toward her face as though smelling it, while her left hand rests upon the lion's body. A Brahmi legend appears in the right field of the reverse. The reverse design is executed in the refined, high-relief style characteristic of the Chandragupta II lion-slayer type dinars of the Gupta period.
