Obverse description Right-facing bust of Ardashir II in high relief, wearing an elaborate Sasanian mural crown surmounted by a korymbos (hair bundle) encased in a spherical diadem, with long beaded locks of hair falling behind the neck. The king is depicted with a full beard and mustache rendered in fine detail, and is dressed in a draped robe with decorative neckline. A Pahlavi legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading the royal titulature. The flan is irregular and the coin's fabric is characteristic of early Sasanian hammered gold coinage.

Reverse description Central Zoroastrian fire altar depicted in full, with a stepped base and a flaming crown at the top rendered with multiple vertical flame lines. Two attendant figures stand flanking the altar, each facing inward toward the sacred fire; they are shown in profile wearing distinctive Sasanian court dress and headdresses. The composition is symmetrical and characteristic of Sasanian royal religious iconography, emphasizing the dynastic association with the Zoroastrian faith. A short Pahlavi mint mark appears in the field. The reverse field is bounded by a beaded border consistent with the hammered coinage of the period.
