| Obverse description | Diademed bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing a close-fitting headdress surmounted by a korymbos and without earflaps, the diadem of type R. A pellet is positioned to each side of the crown, with a trace of a star visible on the far shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the characteristically bold, high-relief style of early Sasanian coinage. |
