Obverse description Draped bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing the distinctive Sasanian korymbos headdress — a large orb of hair enclosed in a fabric globe — surmounted by a mural crown with crenellations; a long beard is rendered in flowing strands. A small secondary bust, likely representing the royal farr (divine glory), appears atop the king's crown. The effigy is set within a beaded border, with a circular Pahlavi legend surrounding the portrait in the field.
