Obverse description Central field bears the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) in three lines of Kufic Arabic script, reading 'There is no god but God alone, He has no associate.' A circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs along the inner border, with the text contained within a plain inner circle. The script is rendered in the angular, formal Kufic style characteristic of early Umayyad epigraphic coinage, with no figural imagery.

Reverse description Central field displays a three-line Kufic Arabic inscription identifying the coin as struck in the name of God, with the mint formula and Quranic citation from Surah 112 (Al-Ikhlas): 'God is One, God is Eternal, He begot not nor was begotten.' A circular marginal legend in Kufic script surrounds the central text, separated by a plain inner circle. The reverse maintains the purely epigraphic, aniconic character mandated by the Umayyad monetary reform of 77 AH (696/7 CE).
