Obverse description Central field contains a multi-line Arabic religious legend arranged in horizontal bands within a plain inner circle. The field inscription includes the Shahada and the name of the Abbasid caliph. A secondary circular band of Arabic kufic script surrounds the central legend, itself enclosed by a beaded or rope-pattern border running along the coin's periphery. The overall composition is characteristic of Andalusian taifa gold coinage of the early 11th century, executed in a slightly irregular hammered flan.
