Reverse description Fully epigraphic reverse displaying multiple horizontal lines of Kufic-style Arabic legend within a plain inner circle, naming the Ayyubid sultan Al-Adil Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ayyub and his designated heir Al-Kamil Muhammad. A single word or phrase appears isolated in the lower field below the main block of text, a layout typical of Ayyubid gold dinars of the Alexandria mint. A continuous marginal legend encircles the central field within a beaded outer border. The flan is irregular and slightly concave, consistent with the hammered technique used for Ayyubid gold coinage.
