Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious and dynastic inscription arranged within a circular inner border, the text executed in bold raised Thuluth script. The inscription contains the Shahada and honorific references to the Saadian ruler Ahmad al-Mansur. An outer marginal legend in Arabic script runs continuously around the coin's periphery within a beaded or rope border, separated from the central field by a plain raised circle. The striking is characteristic of the hammered gold coinage of the Saadian dynasty, with slightly irregular flan edges.
