| Reverse description | Central field enclosed within a double-lined square frame containing five lines of Arabic script in which the ruler's titulature and honorifics are proclaimed. The legend names the Marinid sultan Abu 'l-'Abbas Ahmad with his full laqab al-Mustansir-bi-Allah and his genealogical claim as son of the orthodox caliphs. A marginal inscription running along the outer border records the mint of issue and an invocation of divine protection upon the city. A beaded border frames the entire composition, consistent with Marinid gold dinar typology of the late fourteenth century. |
