Obverse description Central square field contains multiple lines of Kufic and cursive Arabic religious inscriptions, enclosed within a beaded inner border. The square is surrounded by an outer circular band bearing additional Arabic legends in flowing script. Interlaced vegetal and geometric ornamental motifs fill the areas between the central square and the circular outer border, executed in the distinctive Maghrebi hammered gold coin style characteristic of the Hafsid dynasty.
