Obverse description Central square field formed by a double linear border with a beaded inner frame, containing multiple lines of Arabic religious and dynastic inscriptions in raised script. The area between the central square and the coin's circular rim is divided into four segments bearing additional Arabic legends. The overall design follows the classic Marinid square-in-circle format, executed in the hammered tradition with bold, densely arranged script characteristic of western Islamic gold coinage of the 14th century.
