Reverse description Central field displays multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic legend within a plain inner circle, bearing the name of the ruler Abu Bakr b. 'Umar and additional religious or titular formulae. A continuous marginal inscription in Arabic script runs around the circumference within the raised border ring. The execution is typical of Almoravid gold coinage, with bold, well-formed Kufic characters struck in relief on a slightly concave flan.
