Obverse description Diademed male head of King Spartocus V facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with finely modelled facial features and abundant curling hair bound by a royal diadem. The effigy fills the flan with bold, high-relief workmanship characteristic of Bosporan royal coinage of the early second century BC. The neck is bare and the portrait conveys a strong individualistic character. No legend appears on the obverse.
