Obverse description Prancing horse advancing left in high relief, rendered in an archaic Greek style with finely articulated musculature; the animal is depicted with forelegs raised and hindquarters lowered in a rearing pose. The horse occupies the majority of the flan, with a dotted border encircling the design. The style is characteristic of northern Aegean coinage of the mid-fifth century BC, with bold modeling and a sense of vigorous movement.
