| Reverse description | Draped bust of Agrippina the Younger facing right, her hair dressed in a long plait falling down the back of the neck with two loose locks descending at either side of the neck, a coiffure characteristic of her portrait type. The composition emphasizes her imperial dignity as Augusta and mother of the reigning emperor. The reverse legend encircling the portrait proclaims her titles in Latin. The portraiture reflects the refined engraving style associated with the Cappadocian mint at Caesarea under Nero. |

| Additional information |
Agrippina the Younger's appearance on imperial coinage alongside her son Nero was without precedent — no living woman had shared a Roman obverse on equal terms with a reigning emperor. The arrangement lasted only a few years before Nero systematically marginalized her, first removing her from coins entirely, then having her murdered in 59 AD. This issue belongs to the narrow window when her political authority was real enough to be advertised in silver.
