| Obverse description | Youthful bare head of Apollo-Carneius facing right, rendered with flowing, richly detailed curly hair bound with a fillet, and bearing a small horn of Ammon projecting from the forehead — a syncretic attribute combining the Greek god with the Libyan deity Zeus-Ammon. The portrait is executed in a refined Hellenistic style, with finely modelled facial features including a strong jaw and prominent nose. The field is plain, without legend, the entire design filling the flan characteristically for Cyrenaican silver coinage of this period. |
