| Obverse description | Bare head of Apollo-Carneius facing right, depicted in the syncretic Libyan tradition with a prominent curving horn of Ammon emerging from the hair above the ear. The hair is rendered in flowing locks swept back from the forehead and secured with a taenia, with individual curls finely articulated in the late Classical Cyrenaic style. The facial features are rendered in three-quarter relief with a strong, youthful profile, characteristic of the Cyrenaican mint's accomplished die-cutters of the early Hellenistic period. The field is plain, with no legend or exergual inscription. |
