| Obverse description | Bare youthful head of Apollo-Carneius facing left, rendered with fine detail in the classical Greek style. The hair is elaborately rendered in thick, flowing curls swept back from the forehead and temples, with a prominent crescent-shaped horn of Ammon rising above the brow, identifying the deity with the Libyan god Ammon. The facial features are idealized, with a straight nose, refined lips, and a strong jawline characteristic of late classical Greek die engraving. The field is otherwise plain, with no surrounding legend. |
