| Reverse description | A tall, ornately decorated club or sceptre of Heracles (the lonsdale club) stands upright in the centre of the field, adorned with a floral or vegetal pattern along its shaft. The reverse is enclosed within a dotted border, with the Greek legend ΥΠΑΤΟϹ Γ ΠΑΤΗΡ ΠΑΤΡΙΔΟϹ (Consul for the third time, Father of the Fatherland) distributed around the periphery. The inscription references Hadrian's third consulship (COS III) and his honorary title Pater Patriae, both assumed by 128 AD. The plain, uncluttered field emphasises the symbolic centrality of the club motif. |
