Leukas occupied an unusual position among Akarnanians — technically an island after Corinthian colonists cut a canal through the isthmus, yet politically and culturally anchored to the mainland league. This issue dates to the period following Rome's dissolution of the Macedonian kingdom at Pydna in 168 BC, when Akarnanian civic minting continued under increasing Roman shadow. The magistrate name Bathyos appears on a narrow cluster of dies, suggesting a brief tenure or a single concentrated emission rather than a sustained series.
