Reverse description A goat standing to the right in the field, depicted in profile with naturalistic detail. Above the goat, a two-line Greek inscription names the issuing magistrate and the city of Paros. The design is a hallmark type for Parian coinage of the Hellenistic period, the goat being a civic emblem of the island. The field is plain, and the overall composition is characteristic of the hammered didrachms produced at Paros during the second century BC.
