Reverse description A rose in full bloom, the characteristic emblem of Rhodes, occupies the central field with a bud to the right and the ethnic inscription ΡΟΔΙΟΝ arching above. The magistrate's name ΑΚΕΣΙΣ is divided across the stem as ΑΚΕ above and ΣΙΣ below. A small figure of Apollo, holding a lyre, stands in the left field as a secondary symbol, further identifying the issuing authority and series within the Rhodian coinage sequence.
