| Obverse description | Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in three-quarter view slightly turned to the right, with radiate crown of solar rays emanating from the hair. The face is boldly modelled with fine detail, displaying wavy locks swept to either side in the characteristic Rhodian style. The high-relief portrait fills the coin field, a hallmark of the accomplished die engraving tradition of Rhodes during the mid-Hellenistic period. |
